Finding the right Lens

Posted at 05:09 PM on July 04, 2009

Do you know how hard it is to find the right camera lens?  I have a Canon Rebel XS and it can take 2 different kinds.  An EF and an EF-S.  There are just SO many choices!  I guess what it would come down to would be what I would want the lens for.  Right now my kit lens (so to say) is a 18-55mm.  I am looking at this one on www.cameraworld.com that is a Canon 17-55mm.  Only 1 mm bigger than the one I have now, but what is cool about this one is, the fact that it is a wide angle one.  I always like the wide angle photos.

Like this..

Pretty sweet if you ask me!  I think they need a camera lens helper if you ask me!  You can just put your camera in and it will do the rest!

PEACE!

Canon EF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS vs. Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM... right?

18mm is a wide angle already. And a 17mm will only give you 4.1 degrees more. So I don't think it'll help you that much in focal length.

If its the lenses that I posted at the top, you're advantage will come in the lens speed of the 17-55 lens, as its f/2.8 throughout the whole range. So definitely a better lens. (Buy it and sell your 18-55!)

Also, realize that the 17-88 is a larger lens, and is over 3x the weight.

Welcome
